There is a need to understand how to scale up and sustain IO from focused pilots to broad implementation in other assets, on other company levels, and across companies. Through research in the Centre for Integrated Operations in the Petroleum Industry, we seek to address this need by using a Capability Development approach.
By a capability we mean the combined capacity and ability to plan and execute in accordance with the business objectives to deliver performance through a designed combination of people, processes, technology, governance/organisation and environment.
Examples of questions addressed when developing a capability platform can be; What capabilities need to be in place at different levels of an organization in order to make required decisions an perform required actions? When should a capability be further developed? What is required to implement this decision?
